At Wiedewei Ridderkerk, a standard Mother's Day gift was not on the agenda this year, but rather a shared experience in nature. On Friday afternoon, the branch was dedicated to Mother's Day. It was a festive afternoon where mothers explored the garden together with their children and participated in various green activities.
Garden bingo with worms, birds, and insects
During a garden bingo, mothers and children went looking for worms, birds, and insects together. Meanwhile, sand pies were being made in abundance in the sandbox, and in between, everyone could enjoy freshly baked bread and fruit water.
Experiencing together
With the afternoon, Wiedewei primarily wanted parents and children to experience something together. Not just making something to take home, but discovering, playing, and marveling together. This aligns with the way Wiedewei helps children grow every day: spending a lot of time outdoors, discovering nature, and experiencing that getting dirty is part of the process.
Outdoor adventures after school
The Mother's Day activity offers a wonderful glimpse into Wiedewei's green approach. Outdoor play, discovery, and learning from nature are central to this. This same approach will soon be on display at Wiedewei's new outdoor after-school care, Ridderkerk, where children are given the space to go on outdoor adventures after school.
Successful Mother's Day in nature!
With the muddy Mother's Day, Wiedewei Ridderkerk looks back on a successful afternoon full of happy faces and beautiful moments between mother and child.
