Warm Sweater Week at Wiedewei:

Published 5 February 2025

At Wiedewei we don't just celebrate Sweater Day. No, we make it a Sweater WEEK! This entire week is all about warmth, without turning up the heating. A week in which we don't just put on a thick sweater, but also playfully learn about getting warmer and saving energy. And that turns out to be very cozy and snug!

Stay warm without heating

We visit Wiedewei Bergen op Zoom, where the toddlers are completely immersed in the theme. The heating was off, but no one was cold. The toddlers made their own warm sweater by decorating a drawing with soft wool. Outside they enthusiastically participated in the 'keep-warm-dance' to stay nice and warm. And inside they snuggled up under warm blankets while enjoying a nice reading moment. There was also music: the toddlers sang a cheerful song about warm sweaters.

"On Sweater Day we celebrate the 'birthday' of the first global climate treaty with which we want to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. During the week of Sweater Day we celebrate 'Sweater Week' at Wiedewei. During this week we consciously engage with the children in activities around 'keeping yourself warm' through activities. The message here is: if you can keep yourself warm, you don't need heating!"
