Bee Wiedewei Ouddorp Last week was all about grandpas and grandmas. During Grandpa and Grandma Week, grandparents were warmly welcomed to take a look around the location and experience firsthand how their grandchildren play, discover, and develop at Wiedewei.
A look behind the scenes
The turnout was great! Many grandparents visited Wiedewei Ouddorp. They participated in the activities, asked questions to the pedagogical professionals, and got a look behind the scenes. They were allowed to view the bedrooms, and the pedagogical professionals prepared the bottles so that grandparents could actively participate during their grandchild's feeding time.
Discover, feel, and play outside
The children went on a journey of discovery with natural materials. With curious little hands, they discovered that straw tickles gently and how different branches feel. In this playful way, their sensorimotor development is stimulated.
As with all Wiedewei locations, most activities took place in the fresh open air.
The importance of grandparent involvement
Involving grandparents, just like involving parents and caregivers, is important for children's development. By including family members in what the children do at Wiedewei, a stronger connection is created between home and the childcare center. This gives the grandparents a better picture of their grandchild's daily activities, and the grandchildren can proudly show where they play, learn, and develop. In this way, the grandparents get a glimpse into their grandchild's world.
