Alderman Fleur Stip visited Wiedewei Ridderkerk on Wednesday, June 10. Together with Melinda Janse, Childcare Contact Officer, she met with branch manager Sabrina Witter – Van Bemmel, label director Hennie Brasser, and learned about the green, sustainable vision of Wiedewei.
The importance of childcare for a strong living environment in Ridderkerk
The visit focused on meeting and exchanging experiences from the daily practice of childcare. Stip and Janse gained insight into the work of the pedagogical professionals, the developments within Wiedewei, and the important role that childcare plays in the development of children. The contribution of childcare to a strong living environment in Ridderkerk was also discussed.
Training for professionals and greening of outdoor areas
Various developments within Wiedewei were discussed. For instance, Wiedewei is investing heavily in the training and development of pedagogical professionals so that they can optimally guide children in their growth. In addition, the outdoor areas are becoming increasingly greener and more extensively designed. This gives the children even more space to discover, move, and develop in nature through play.
“It is wonderful that you have a very distinct, clear vision on childcare that sets you apart. We find it very special that we can take a look around here,” says Alderman Stip enthusiastically.
Tour of the facility and outdoor area
During a tour, the outdoor after-school care immediately caught the eye. It is a large barn where schoolchildren can go on outdoor adventures as much as possible starting July 1st. While the children happily played outside, there was plenty of discovery and learning. Among other things, a mud pie was made, and visitors could see how well the tomato plants in the vegetable garden are already growing.
The visit is viewed positively. “It was nice to show our concept and give an idea of how we work every day to create an environment where children can grow and discover,” says branch manager Sabrina Witter – Van Bemmel.
